“HydraHoes” and the newer PMF clone can use either the old external fit OR the internal style.
Internal offers easier fitment, lighter weight and closer reach to walls and baseboards and keeps the head from collapsing under vacuum pressure on older heads that do not have a support pin inside.
There is no benefit to the External fit other than you don’t need to remove the pressed on metal lips to install it.
